Lakshmi Parvathi's case
against doctor admitted

Syed Amin Jafri in Hyderabad

Fifth Metropolitan Magistrate V N Gandhi on Friday issued summons to Dr Kakarla Subba Rao, renowned radiologist and author of A Doctor's Story of Life and Death , in connection with a defamation suit filed by Lakshmi Parvathi, widow of Telugu Desam founder and former chief minister N T Rama Rao.

The magistrate directed Dr Subba Rao to appear in the court on October 18.

"The case has been admitted. It is my first success," Lakshmi Parvathi told rediff.com on Friday evening.

"The magistrate considered the complaint that was filed and the sworn statement of Lakshmi Parvathi along with the material evidence. Prima facie, he felt that there was a case of defamation under Section 500 of the IPC," Parvathi's counsel K R Raman pointed out.

Parvathi has accused Dr Subba Rao of making defamatory statements against her and NTR in his book.

"These allegations are intended to damage, disparage and scandalise the complainant's reputation. These imputations would harm the reputation of the complainant as well as that of late NTR. They also directly and indirectly lower the moral character of the complainant," Parvathi's has said in her complaint.
