A Dalit woman was paraded naked by members of a scheduled tribe on Sunday night at Onenur village in Bellary district in Karnataka, District Superintendent of Police Sharat Chandra said.
He said some men of Valmiki community barged into the house of the victim, dragged her out and paraded her naked in the village.
The men were angry after a girl of their community, who had eloped with a Dalit boy last month, returned to the village and blamed the woman for instigating her, Chandra said.
Eight persons, including three women, have been arrested in this connection.
Chandra said necessary protection has been provided to the victim and a strong contingent of policemen has been posted in the village.
