Five Lashkar terrorists killed on LoC

Army troops on Monday shot dead five Lashkar-e-Tayiba militants who were trying to cross over to Pakistan-occupied Kashmir.

The troops observed movement in the upper reaches somewhere in the Poonch sector following which a plan was laid in the area, the spokesman said.

The troops challenged the terrorists and asked them to surrender. However, they tried to run across the Line of Control to PoK. An intense gunbattle ensued in which the five terrorists were killed.

According to unconfirmed reports two armymen were also killed in the gunbattle.

Three Kalashnikov rifles and a pistol were seized from the spot, he said.
