Miraculous escape for infant
after a week under rubble

Drawing life-giving oxygen from under a mangled mass of concrete and steel that was once her home, an 11-month-old infant managed to hold on for a week, surprising rescue workers who were sorting out the rubble in Palaswa village in Palanpur district of Gujarat.

Army personnel pulled out 11-month-old Tejal on Saturday.

For her family, a 'dead' child had been brought back alive, for they had even performed her 'last rites'.

People thanked Mother Earth and organised special prayers after Tejal's rescue.

The infant, the eighth child of Babubhai Prajapati, was later shifted to a medical camp in Radhanpur where she is now recovering.
