Ghising out of danger

Doctors successfully removed a bullet and some splinters from Gorkha National Liberation Front chief Subhas Ghising's shoulder and the right side of his skull during an operation late on Saturday night.

Doctors attending on him at the Paramount Nursing Home in Siliguri, north Bengal, said Ghising, 65, had been shifted to the intensive care unit and was progressing well.

Dr Moloy Chakraborty said Ghising's condition was stable and there was no need to shift him to the All-India Institute of Medical Sciences in New Delhi now.

Ghising was injured in a shootout when his car was ambushed near Kurseong on Saturday evening.
