Three killed, two injured in NSCN attack

Three persons, two policemen and a civilian, were killed and two others injured in firing by suspected Nationalist Socialist Council of Nagaland terrorists on Thursday at a remote place in Assam's Karbi Anglong district bordering Nagaland, official sources said in Guwahati.

A group of 10 to 12 militants from Nagaland attacked a police camp at Karagaon under Bokajan police station and opened fire.

Two policemen were killed on the spot and two others injured, while a civilian who came out of his house on hearing the sound of firing was also killed.

The militants went back to Nagaland after the attack. Police have launched a massive combing operation to arrest the culprits, the sources said.

Senior police and civil officials have rushed to the area and patrolling has been intensified on the Assam-Nagaland border, the sources added.
