At least 12 persons were burnt alive and six were injured when a gas tanker exploded after colliding with a truck at Kanpur Dehat district of Uttar Pradesh on Sunday.

A police spokesman said in Kanpur that the mishap occurred when the tanker, proceeding towards Bhoganipur, rammed into a truck near Bara village in the district. The tanker caught fire after the collision.

Two of the injured were referred to a private clinic while four others were admitted to a primary health centre at Akbarpur, the spokesman added.
