Monday was the last date for withdrawing nomination papers and Kalraj Mishra was the lone candidate to have filed his nomination to the Upper House in UP, Returning Officer and state Assembly Secretary R P Pandey said in Lucknow.
The seat fell vacant following the resignation of Rajnath Singh from the Rajya Sabha after his elevation to the post of state chief minister.
Manmohan Singh was re-elected to the Upper House for the third term, Bora made his maiden entry to the House from Assam. Bora was the common candidate of the Asom Gana Parishad, BJP, All Bodo Students Union (ABSU) and the ASDC (U).
The two seats were to fall vacant with the expiry of the terms of Singh and Jayashree Goswami Mahanta (AGP), wife of former chief minister Prafulla Kumar Mahanta, on June 11.
In Haryana, ruling INLD nominee Rao Man Singh was declared elected unopposed after the rejection of nomination papers of two independents candidates - Kanwal Singh Bedhadhak and Daryao Singh on June 2. The seat fell vacant following the death of former deputy prime minister Devi Lal.
In Punjab, BJP state unit vice-president Bibi Gurcharan Kaur was elected unopposed to the Upper House. The vacancy arose due to resignation of Raj Mohinder Singh Majitha (Akali Dal) after his election to state assembly in a by-election.
