Former Sena minister receives summons
in Bombay riots case

Former Shiv Sena minister Gajanan Kirtikar, chargesheeted by the Special Task Force (STF) appointed to follow up the Srikrishna Commission report, on Tuesday received summons directing him to appear before a Bombay court on Wednesday.

Kirtikar and some other Sena leaders have been charged by the STF for their role in fanning communal disturbances in the metropolis, which witnessed widespread riots in the aftermath of the demolition of the Babri mosque in December 1992.

Meanwhile, a meeting of Sena leaders at the residence of party supremo Bal Thackeray alleged that the Democratic Front government in Maharashtra was adopting a 'vindictive attitude' by chargesheeting Sena leaders.

Sena spokesman Subhash Desai said his party was ready for a legal battle on the issue.
