Security forces warn NSCN(I-M)

Security forces have charged the National Socialist Council of Nagalim (I-M) with violation of ceasefire ground rules despite an assurance to abide by it to ensure continuance of an effective ceasefire.

Citing the latest violation, a defence release in Kohima on Monday alleged, on June 23, a group of NSCN cadres in uniform, numbering 100 and led by three self styled officers, entered Nagaland from Manipur via Tenning and Perey hijacking two vehicles at gun point.

Security forces stopped the vehicles for routine check but the NSCN activities did not pay any heed.

Keeping in mind the volatile situation, security forces exercised maximum restraint and allowed them to move on a specified route, the release said.

Security forces warned the cadres to abide by the ground rules of the ceasefire and refrain from any action detrimental to peace else security forces would take necessary action as it deemed fit to ensure that ground rules were not violated, the release added.
