Two killed in clash between CPI-M-Cong

Two persons were killed and two seriously injured in a clash between CPI-M and Congress supporters at Ghughupara village in West Bengal's Murshidabad district on Monday, a top police official said.

One of those killed was a CPI-M supporter while the other a Congress activist, district SP Rajesh Kumar said.

The clash, in which both sides used guns, bombs and sharp weapons, occurred over a piece of land in Bhabagangola block II.

Five people, belonging to the two parties, were arrested in connection with the clash, Kumar said adding police teams had been posted in the village, where the situation was tense but under control.

Earlier, police had said four persons were killed in the clash.
