The Bharatiya Janata Party Tuesday claimed that all defence deals were being scrutinised by the Central Vigilance Commission.
Party spokesman V K Malhotra made this assertion while answering questions on the defence deals scandal.
Malhotra said Prime Minister A B Vajpayee told his partymen that the Opposition had been rejected by the people and their conspiracy to topple the government would not be allowed to succeed.
According to Malhotra, Vajpayee told his party MPs that the government did not need a certificate from anybody. The PM said the government cannot be changed by mere slogan-shouting, and the decision would be made in the people's court after completion of the government's five-year term.
Vajpayee also pointed out that the Congress wanted to prove that only it could run the government for five years. He told the parliamentary party that the Opposition was unable to break the National Democratic Alliance because the ruling coalition was united.
The PM, according to Malhotra, urged his party MPs to go their constituencies with confidence and explain to the people the deviousness of the Opposition's gameplan to topple the government.
