3 held for burning Bible in AP

A group of 16 persons set ablaze a copy of the Bible at a prayer meeting at Chevalla town in Ranga Reddy district of Andhra Pradesh, on Thursday night.

Three people have been arrested.

The police here that the miscreants had gone to the shamiana, where a gospel meeting was on, pulled down the tent and set fire to the Bible. They also tore some copies of the Bible.

They fled on seeing two beat constables approaching.

Home Minister T Devender Goud visited the town, where the situation was stated to be normal.

Soon after the incident, security was tightened at the venue of the three-day prayer meeting.

Condemning the act, Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu said some miscreants were trying to disturb communal harmony in the state.
