Another Tehelka-tainted official
sent to Planning Commission

Additional Secretary in the Ministry of Defence L M Mehta, whose name figured in the Tehelka videotapes, has been moved to Planning Commission as an adviser.

Mehta, a Haryana cadre IAS officer, has not joined in his new post and has gone on leave, sources in the ministry said.

Mehta, who has issued a strong denial of any wrongdoing in the Tehelka scam, has been empanelled in the latest list of officers to be promoted to the secretary rank.

Mehta has so far not appeared before the one-member Ministry of Defence inquiry committee and neither has he been called by the Justice K Venkatswami Commission.
