Suspected ULFA militants kill 3 AGP
workers, 16 injured in grenade blast

In yet another round of violence ahead of next week's assembly polls in Assam, suspected United Liberation Front of Assam ultras on Thursday night shot dead three activists of Assam's ruling Asom Gana Parishad (AGP) party and set off a grenade wounding 16 in Nalbari and Goalpara districts.

ULFA insurgents stormed into a make-shift AGP election office at Boguribari, a small town in Nalbari district, and fired indiscriminately killing three AGP workers on the spot and seriously wounding four, police said.

The dead were identified as Madhav Choudhury, Abani Methi and Ruksan Ali.

Police said ULFA militants lobbed a grenade inside a temporary AGP election office near Sankarmath area in Goalpara town injuring 16, which included 14 party workers and two home guards.
