30 Bangladeshis arrested

The Border Security Force Friday arrested 30 Bangladeshi nationals, including seven women and five children, in Jammu frontier's Hira Nagar sub-sector along the international border, police sources said.

The Bangladeshis were trying to cross over to Pakistan when the BSF personnel, posted at the border outpost Phadpur, arrested them.

They were later handed over to the police, the sources said, adding that over 300 Bangladeshis have been arrested along the international border in Jammu frontier since January this year.

The police arrested a narcotics smuggler from the general bus-stand on Friday and seized 40 kgs of powder for poppy plants.

The consignment was to be smuggled to Amritsar, the sources said.
