A three-member delegation of Panun Kashmir -- an organisation representing Kashmiri Pandits -- called on government representative K C Pant in Srinagar on Wednesday evening to place their point of view on the Kashmir problem.
The delegation was led by Dr Ajay Chungroo.
Panun Kashmir spokesperson Dr Shakti Bhan told rediff.com in Delhi that the meeting lasted over an hour and the delegation was satisfied with the discussion.
"We had met government officials and ministers before this meeting. We told Mr Pant that the government must protect Kashmiri Pandits' interests. We told him that we want to go back to our homeland but not under present circumstances," Dr Bhan said.
However, some Kashmiri Pandit's decried Panun Kashmir's reaction to the proposed visit of General Prevez Musharraf to India. "How can we welcome the general when Pakistan is the cause of our displacement from Kashmir. We are planning a black-flag rally when he visits Delhi," Nancy Kaul, a Kashmiri Pandit, said.
Dr Bhan said though the Kashmiri Pandits are fundamentally against any dialogue with Pakistan, if talks can bring out some solution to the Kashmir problem we would be happy.
