25 hurt in major blaze in Bombay

A correspondent in Bombay

Twentyfive persons were injured when the four-storeyed Adhukia building caught fire at Bhuleshwar in south Bombay at 07:30 hours IST on Thursday.

The police said that the injured were admitted to J J hospital and G T hospital.

Fire Brigade sources said 12 fire engines battled the blaze.

The building, in a highly populated area with narrow bylanes, housed some jewellers.

The cause of the fire is not yet known, the police said, but added that property worth lakhs had been destroyed.
