Lok Sabha was adjourned on Tuesday as a mark of respect to the memory of sitting Bharatiya Janata Party member Vishnu Dutt, who died in New Delhi on Tuesday morning after a prolonged illness.
Dutt, 75, represented the Jammu Parliamentary constituency.
He was also a member of the 12th Lok Sabha.
Paying tributes to the departed leader, Speaker G M C Balayogi said he was an active parliamentarian who was a member of the consultative committees of civil aviation and defence.
Dutt was an ayurvedic practitioner and was awarded a fellowship of National Council for Indian System of Medicine.
The House observed a minute's silence in memory of the departed member.
Dutt is survived by wife, two sons and two daughters.
Dutt, suffering from cancer for over a year, was admitted at the All India Institute of Medical Sciences four days ago, after his condition had deteriorated while in Jammu.
