Three killed in blast at Itarsi ordnance factory

Three persons were killed when a blast occurred in the Ordnance Factory at Itarsi, Madhya Pradesh, on Friday afternoon, a senior police official said.

The blast, which occurred at the gunpowder processing unit, brought down the whole building.

The reason for the blast could not be ascertained.

An inquiry had been ordered into the incident, defence sources said on Friday night.

The issue was likely to figure at a two-day conference of the heads of Ordnance Factories beginning in Bhopal on Saturday, the sources added.
