2 cops, passenger killed as dacoits strike in running train

In a daring operation, dacoits shot dead three people, including two policemen, abducted two army jawans and looted passengers in a speeding train near Patiali railway station in Uttar Pradesh late on Wednesday night.

Ten dacoits boarded the second class compartment of the 5314 down Agra Fort-Lucknow Express at Ganjdudwara station and stopped it at Narthar, by defusing the vacuum, where 30 more dacoits joined them, official sources said.

The dacoits then started looting the passengers, they said.

Railway Protection Force personnel on board the train challenged the dacoits who opened fire killing three persons, including two policemen, and wounding two others.

The dacoits abducted two army jawans before making good their escape.

Police teams had fanned out in neighbouring Etah, Budaon and Furrukabad districts to track down the dacoits.
