Veteran Hindi film actor Dilip Kumar, who was admitted to the Leelavati Hospital in Bandra, northwest Bombay, late on Wednesday night, following a urinary tract infection, was reported to be out of danger.
"Dilip Kumar is stable but under observation," said Ehsaan Khan, younger brother of the thespian.
Refuting media reports of a massive renal failure, an irritated Khan said, "He is not critical as reported in the media."
But when asked what was wrong with the actor, he said, "There is no kidney failure, but yes there is a problem with his kidney."
He said, "Dilip Kumar had gone to his farm house at Lonavala for rest. For the last two days it had been raining very heavily, and that was probably the reason he developed a problem in his urinary tract."
Dilip Kumar's wife Saira Banu also called up a satellite channel to refute reports about Kumar's condition being critical.
She said, "He was passing excessive urine in the last two days. A local doctor in Lonavala even attended to him. There was no kidney failure. We drove back in our own car, with an ambulance escorting us."
