Harassed by judge, CJM and family members resort to hunger strike

The Chief Judicial Magistrate in Mainpuri (Uttar Pradesh) and his family members have been on an 'indefinite hunger strike' to protest the alleged injustice perpetuated upon him by District Judge R K Rastogi.

CJM Mahendra Singh on Saturday said that Rastogi had tried to force him to withdraw a case lodged in the Kotwali police station by his father.

"When my father refused to withdraw the case, the judge withdrew my powers to grant bail," Singh alleged.

Singh said he had given a notice to Rastogi on Thursday last informing him of his decision to go on a fast unto death until his grievances were redressed.
