TDP leader killed by political rivals in Warangal

Syed Amin Jafri in Hyderabad

Telugu Desam Party's youth wing president (Warangal) Kolli Pratap Reddy was killed and two of his associates injured in an attack by political rivals in Warangal district in Andhra Pradesh.

Telugu Desam Party whip and legislator E Dayakar Rao alleged the involvement of a legislator from the Congress Party in the killing of Pratap Reddy.

He said that Pratap Reddy and other Telugu Desam functionaries were facing threats from the Congress leaders in Warangal district. He demanded the immediate arrest of the culprits and those backing them.

State police sources said the incident took place when some unknown assailants, travelling in a vehicle, chased the car in which Pratap Reddy along with two associates, was proceeding to Hyderabad from Warangal late on Wednesday night.

The miscreants managed to stop Pratap Reddy's car at a village between Chinna Pendyala and Ghanpur. They hurled crude bombs and boulders at the car and dragged out Pratap Reddy and hacked him to death. His associates Shiva Koti and Rumakar, who sustained serious injuries, were admitted to a hospital in Hanamkonda town.
