Frustrated minority youth float outfit with hardline plans

Faced with uncertainty about their future, a 'large number' of the youth (mostly of the minority community) in relief camps in Ahmedabad appear to be in a militant mood and have reportedly floated an outfit with hardline plans.

State police and intelligence agencies have gathered inputs on the formation of an outfit called the 'Lashkar-e-Khaladeen' and immediately reported the matter to the Centre, informed sources told PTI in Ahmedabad.

Sources said the 'Lashkar-e-Khaladeen' is being headed by a self-styled commander-in-chief and has circulated a 'theme paper' with a charter of 12 priorities under the caption - Give a call for open terrorism to fight covert terrorism.

"They have an agenda - they believe they can hit back at the majority community with a sustained guerrilla campaign," the state police's report has said.

Leaflets with the charter were distributed in Ahmedabad and in its outskirts, sources said.

"The goal is to ensure that the idea to fight the terrorism launched by the majority community's fundamentalist elements reaches the maximum number of people," they said.
