Former minister Mushtaq Ahmad Lone's brother shot

December 05, 2002 19:21 IST

A brother of slain Jammu and Kashmir law minister in the previous National Conference government, Mushtaq Ahmad Lone, was on Thursday shot by militants in his house in Kupwara district.

Unidentified gunmen barged into Ghulam Mohiuddin Lone's house at around 4.30 pm at Sogam in Lolab and fired a hail of bullets killing him on the spot, a senior police officer said.

A contractor by profession, Mohiuddin was counted among top militants in Kupwara district in early 90's.

He had surrendered and held talks with the Centre in 1996 along with commanders of some other outfits.

His brother, Mushtaq Ahmed Lone, was killed by militants on September 11 this year while campaigning for assembly polls.
