Encouraged by its win in Gujarat, the Bharatiya Janata Party on Friday said it would launch a campaign, to be called 'Sankalp [resolution] 2004', against the 'inept' Democratic Front government.

Talking to mediapersons after the party's chintan baithak [brainstorming session] in Mumbai, BJP vice-president Gopinath Munde said that the campaign would be aimed at mobilising public opinion against the state government and strengthen the party's organisational setup.

The proposal would be placed before the party leadership for approval on January 5, he said.

The three-day brainstorming session, which ended on Friday, was held in Thane district and was attended by Union Ministers Pramod Mahajan, Ram Naik, Vedprakash Goyal and state BJP chief Pandurang Phundkar among others.

Coming down heavily on the Nationalist Congress Party for challenging the BJP to replicate the 'Gujarat experiment' in Maharashtra, Munde said, "The party should consider setting its house in order before throwing a challenge to the BJP."

The BJP is also planning to felicitate Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi in Mumbai next week.
