Non-bailable arrest warrant against UP MLA Mukhtar Ansari

A Delhi court on Monday issued a non-bailable warrant of arrest against Mukhtar Ansari, an independent MLA from Uttar Pradesh, facing trial under the Terrorist and Disruptive Activities (Prevention) Act (TADA).

Forfeiting the bail bond and surety of Ansari, Special Judge S N Dhingra directed that he be produced in the court on January 22.

The former Bahujan Samaj Party leader was arrested in 1993 under TADA after police recovered several arms and ammunition from his possession.

Meanwhile, Ansari's lawyer moved an application seeking adjournment of the trial saying that the MLA had met with an accident in Mao, Uttar Pradesh and doctors had advised him complete rest.
