Congress bags six civic bodies in Maharashtra in 2nd phase of polling

In the second phase of polling for 28 municipal councils, the Congress has won six seats of president and 110 of its candidates were elected councillors.

The Nationalist Congress Party stood second with three posts of president and 98 councillors.

The position of other political parties is as follows: Shiv Sena - 2 and 55; BJP - 6 and 73; Independents - 3 and 79; Fronts - 6 and 123; BSP - nil and 2; Samajwadi Party - 1 and 7; Janata Dal (Secular) - 1 and 20; PWP - nil and 1 while the Republican Party of India won one corporator's post.
