Mayawati trims coordination committee, drops Kalraj Mishra

Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Mayawati on Tuesday dropped state BJP chief Kalraj Mishra and party leader Om Prakash Singh from the coordination committee of the ruling coalition, trimming the size of the panel.

BSP state chief Indrajeet Saroj has also been dropped and Janata Dal (United) president Suresh Niranjan Bhaiya replaced by party MLA Manjhi Shankwar, as it was felt that party presidents should not be overburdened with additional responsibility, the chief minister told PTI.

She said now onwards only MLAs and ministers in the state government would be members of the committee.

The committee would review issues relating to the law and order situation and development, which formed part of the common minimum programme of the coalition government.

Ram Prakash Tripathi (BJP) and Swam Prasad Maurya (BSP) are the new members of the trimmed committee, which now has two members each of the BJP and the BSP and one each from the Janata Dal (U), Loktantrik Congress and the Lok Dal with Chief Minister Mayawati as its chairperson.

The BJP leadership has been informed about the changes in the panel, she added.
