Good governance key to Congress success: Kamal Nath

Congress Working Committee member and general secretary in charge of Gujarat, Kamal Nath, on Friday described the party's chief ministers' conclave in Mount Abu as a 'meeting of good governance'.

Contending that the party does not have 'a religious or caste card', he told rediff.com that the Congress is banking on the 'good leadership card'. He said the meeting would discuss and evolve a mechanism for continued 'good governance'.

Asked about the party's plans for the series of assembly elections scheduled next year, he said the people are looking for peace and progress, adding the Congress was the only party that can fulfil the aspirations of the people.

On Congress chief Sonia Gandhi's apprehension that its rivals may 'stoop to any level in word and deed to spread poison to inflame the society', Kamal Nath said, "The people in Gujarat have seen through the BJP, and the party will be rejected by the people in the assembly election."
