Two killed, seven hurt in Baramulla blast

Mukhtar Ahmad in Srinagar

Two persons, including a Border Security Force sub-inspector, were killed and seven wounded critically when militants set off a powerful Improvised Explosive Device at Bandipora in Baramulla district on Tuesday, official sources said.

The ultras triggered the explosion at around 1240 IST when the bomb disposal squad was defusing another IED detected earlier, the sources said.

One person killed was a civilian, who was watching the defusing process of the IED by the bomb disposal squad, the sources said.

Three policemen, two bomb disposal squad personnel and two civilians were injured in the blast, which caused panic in the area.

Security forces cordoned off the area to track down the militants responsible for the blast.
