One dead, five injured in
explosion near Hyderabad

One person died and five were injured on Thursday night when a bomb concealed in a scooter went off on the outskirts of Hyderabad.

"The explosion occurred at around 2030 IST. The scooter was parked near the Sai Baba temple in Saroornagar area. The condition of two of the injured is serious," Rangareddy District Superintendent of Police M V Ramachandra Raju told rediff.com.

The injured have been rushed to hospitals. The police is trying to establish the identity of the culprits and the motive behind the incident, Raju said.

Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu, Home Minister T Devender Goud, Hyderabad Mayor Teegala Krishna Reddy and senior police officers rushed to the spot to take stock of the situation.
