President Kalam gets rousing welcome on his first official visit to Hyderabad

President A P J Abdul Kalam was accorded a rousing reception when he arrived on his first official visit to Hyderabad on Monday night.

Andhra Pradesh Governor Dr C Rangarajan, Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu, ministers, top officials and other dignitaries were present to receive him at the Begumpet airport.

Dr Kalam will preside over four important functions on Tuesday. He will visit the Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan at Jubilee Hills for a brief interaction with the students and teachers.

He will inaugurate a digital cardiac catheterization lab, developed by the CARE foundation at a function at the CARE hospital in Banjara Hills and interact with experts and selected patients.

He will address the third convocation of the Nizam's Institute of Medical Sciences and give away degrees and medals to 125 doctors, 115 nurses and 17 physiotherapists. He will also inaugurate the telemedicine project of the NIMS with Nizamabad district hospital, new digital subtraction angiography facilities and its women's hostel.

He will round off his day by participating in the Foundation Day and Silver jubilee celebrations of the Centre for Cellular and Molecular Biology.
