The toll in the stampede at the Charbagh railway station in Lucknow has risen to 21, with two more persons dying of their injuries on Monday night.

The stampede had occurred when Bahujan Samaj Party workers were returning from a mammoth rally organised by Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Mayawati.

While one death was reported in Farrukhabad district, another person died in Balrampur hospital in Lucknow.

Of the 47 injured, the condition of 10 persons undergoing treatment in various hospitals in the capital is stated to be critical.

Mayawati visited several hospitals to personally oversee the course of treatment being given to the injured.
