MPSC chairman held in
answer paper scam

Maharashtra Public Service Commission chief P D Vani, who was arrested on Sunday night in connection with a multi-crore answer paper scam, was remanded to police custody till October 16 on Monday.

Vani was produced by the Anti-corruption Bureau before Special Court Judge Mridula Bhatkar, who remanded him to police custody till October 16, ACB's Joint Commissioner of Police A P Dhere said.

Dhere said Vani, the 17th accused in the case, was arrested on recovery of incriminating documents from his residence.

According to prosecution the accused had conspired to replace answer sheets of 399 students appearing for a written examination conducted by the MPSC.
