BJP rebels rule out talks, 4 get show-cause notice

Dissident Bharatiya Janata Party legislators in Uttar Pradesh on Wednesday ruled out dialogue with the state leaders to resolve the deadlock and insisted that the party pull out of the Mayawati-led BJP-BSP coalition government and support it from outside.

Show-cause notices were served to four rebel legislators.

The dissidents, who held a meeting in Lucknow at the residence of Bharat Tripathi, BJP Member of the Legislative Council, also demanded the intervention of the party's central leadership to resolve the deadlock.

Ramashish Rai, spokesman of the 'Save BJP Committee' formed by the dissidents, said 27 MLAs and four MLCs were present at the meeting.

"We expect that the central leadership, keeping in view the sentiments of the party legislators, will take a decision in this regard', Rai said, adding that the members would be visiting the party top brass in New Delhi to air their grievances.

Asked about the threat of disciplinary action against them after the expiry of the 24-hour deadline set by the state leadership, Rai said it was ironical that the leadership on one hand was proposing negotiations and on the other threatening to initiate disciplinary action.
