Insurgents kill eight people in West Tripura

Suspected insurgents of the banned All Tripura Tiger Force killed eight people, including three women and a child, in West Tripura district on Saturday morning.

The insurgents, numbering around 12, fired at the jeep in which the victims were travelling. They were on their way to Khowai sub-divisional town from Asharambari, said Border Security Force personnel.

According to reports from Khowai, the rebels had laid ambush at three points.

Six injured who were in critical condition were taken to Gobinda Ballav Pant hospital at Agartala and the rest to Khowai hospital.

The BSF, Assam Rifles and the Tripura State Rifles launched a search operation to nab the culprits.
