Fifteen BSP legislators willing to
revolt: Mulayam

Samajwadi Party chief Mulayam Singh Yadav on Saturday demanded the dismissal of the Mayawati-led government in Uttar Pradesh saying around fifteen legislators of the Bahujan Samaj Party were willing to revolt.

On Friday, eight independents had withdrawn support to the government.

In an interview with Aaj Tak new channel, Yadav quoted the Bharatiya Janata Party as saying that the government's strength had been reduced to 210 in the 403-member assembly.

"With the magic figure of 202 for a simple majority, if even ten MLAs go, the governor [Vishnukant Shastri] should immediately dismiss the Mayawati ministry instead of testing its majority on the floor of the House," he said.

Asked how the SP would prevent a midterm poll in case the government fell, Yadav said he would provide an alternative dispensation.

To another question, Yadav said he would leave it to Congress president Sonia Gandhi to take a decision on supporting the SP to save the state from communal forces.
