NCW issues summons to two witnesses in Mumbai train rape case

"While two other persons were not identified, one came to us on his own," NCW chairperson Purnima Advani, who paid two-day visit to Mumbai to look into the matter, told PTI.

During her visit, Advani attended an interactive meeting between senior police and railway officials and members of NGOs to discuss issues pertaining to the safe travel of women and steps to avoid harassment of women.

She pointed out that there was no co-ordination between the state police, juvenile homes, remand homes and hospitals to deal with cases, like that of the juvenile.

The NCW is in the process of framing guidelines for each of them so that no victim is subjected to harassment, she said.
