1 dead, 40 hospitalised after consuming
adulterated liquor in Andhra Pradesh

A woman died and 40 others were hospitalised, five of them in a serious condition, on Monday after consuming adulterated liquor at Khilaghanpur village in Mahabubnagar district in Andhra Pradesh.

The 32-year-old woman, identified as Shivamma, died immediately after consuming the spurious liquor while others complained of giddiness and nausea, police said.

The victims were rushed in a state transport corporation (APSRTC) bus to the government hospital at Mahabubnagar, where the condition of five was stated to be 'grim', sources said.

Meanwhile, Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu has ordered a detailed enquiry into the incident. He has also asked the minister in charge of Mahabubnagar district to rush to the spot and provide all possible assistance to the affected persons.
