Hong Kong reports 12 more SARS deaths

April 19, 2003 15:56 IST

Hong Kong's government said on Saturday the SARS virus has killed another 12 people in the territory and infected 31 others.

The latest figures bring the local death toll from Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome to 81, the highest in the world, and the cumulative cases to 1,358.

The flu-like disease, which is widely believed to have originated in southern China, hit Hong Kong in March and has been spread around the world by travellers.
