MBA at Indian School of Mines
The Indian School of Mines in Dhanbad, deemed a University by the Union ministry of human resources development, offers a two-year (2004-2006) full-time MBA programme.
After offering an M Tech degree programme in Industrial Engineering and Management since 1977, The Indian School of Mines -- established in 1926 -- launched its AICTE approved MBA programme under the Department of Management Studies in 1997. The faculty includes teachers from its Department of Management Studies and adjunct/visiting faculty from reputed management institutes and industrial houses.
The Institute says its MBA programme has been rated category A by various nationwide surveys conducted in 2002 by agencies like AIMA-BS Survey and The Telegraph.
ELIGIBILITY: A Bachelor's Degree (10+2+3) in any discipline, B Tech, B Pharm or equivalent with at least 55% marks in aggregate. For Honours graduates the aggregate will include marks of both Honours and Pass papers.
SELECTION: Applicant need to appear for the Common Admission Test to be conducted by the IIMs on November 23, 2003. Candidates short-listed on the basis of CAT scores will be called for Group Discussion and Interview for final selection.
CAT scores are used to short-list candidates who apply for admission to the Indian School of Mines. The IIMs have no role either in the selection process or in the conduct of the MBA programme.
Application form for Admission:
1. The CAT application form and bulletin can be obtained from select branches of the State Bank of India from July 14 to August 22, 2003.
2. Request for an ISM application form and brochure should be accompanied by a Demand Draft of Rs 800 drawn in favour of the Registrar, Indian School of Mines and payable at Dhanbad with two self addressed stickers and should be addressed to the Assistant Registrar (Academic), Indian School of Mines, Dhanbad 826004, Jharkhand.
ISM application form and brochure will be available from September 22 to November 28, 2003.
Last date for submission of filled-in application form: November 28, 2003.

The Department of Science And Technology invites applications for awards from authors of original
books/manuscripts written and published in Hindi during the period between January 1, 2000 and December 31, 2002 in four branches of Science and Technology -- Engineering, Physical Sciences, Life Sciences and Chemical Sciences with a view to encouraging original writing in Hindi:
First Prize: Rs 100,000
Second Prize: Rs 50,000
Third Prize: Rs 25,000. Plus two Consolation Prizes of Rs 10,000 for each
