Mufti files nomination for council seat

February 21, 2003 14:54 IST

Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Mufti Mohammad Sayeed on Friday filed nomination for the state legislative council.

After filing nominations before the assembly speaker, Sayeed told reporters in Jammu that he choose to be a member of the council instead of fighting an assembly election as 'this is also a path of public representation'.

Besides the Mufti, PDP colleague Ved Mahajan and Lal Mohammad Sagar (Congress) also filed their nominations.

P Namgayal (Leh), Nasrullah (Kargil), Ali Mohammad Sofi (Kashmir) and Amrit Malhotra (Jammu) had filed their nominations for the council seats on Thursday.
