Mumbaikars who get soaked every day might think the city is facing a deluge.
But the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation thinks otherwise and is actually praying for more.
BMC Commissioner Karun Shrivastava told rediff.com the city needs 35 to 40 per cent more rain to fill up lakes, which supplies water to the city, to the optimum level.
But Shrivastava plays the ducking game when asked about the water logging the city has faced over the past few days. "Only some part of the city experience water logging. We are doing our best to avoid it. Actually it is because of our efforts that most of the city is not flooded with water."
He claimed the BMC's efforts have been successful to a large extent in maintaining the roads. "BMC carried the repairs of the roads toward the international airport, which were a problem during last monsoon. We also repaired all junctions and gutters before the monsoon," he added.
