Police open fire after India-Pak match

One person was killed in police firing as tension prevailed in several parts of Ahmedabad after India's victory over Pakistan in the World Cup Group 'A' league match on Saturday night.
Police confirmed that 49 teargas shells had to be lobbed and three rounds were fired in several parts including Shahpur, Rakhial, Gomtipur and others communal sensitive areas.
Night patrolling continued in all sensitive areas, but the situation is under control, police added.
"The violence began between 10:30 p.m. and 10:45 p.m. Police lobbed tear gas shells to disperse the mob,"' Deputy Commissioner of Police Siddharth Khatri told newsmen.
In Vadodara city, police lobbed tear gas shells in three areas to disperse rioting mobs after three cars and a restaurant were burned, sources said.
