March 25, 2003 12:40 IST

An army officer and a jawan were on Tuesday killed when militants ambushed them in the Surankote hills in Poonch district in Jammu and Kashmir, official sources said.

Another jawan was injured when a group of militants fired upon an army patrol party in the Bafliaz area on Tuesday morning, the sources told PTI in Jammu.

The troops retaliated, but the militants managed to escape, the sources said adding that additional troops have been sent to the area to launch a combing operation.
