Cops prevent another massacre in J&K

March 27, 2003 11:20 IST

Three days after the massacre of 24 Kashmiri Pandits at Nadimarg in Pulwama district, militants on Wednesday night targeted the minority community in a village in Anantnag district, 75km from Srinagar, but in vain.

Militants resorted to firing in village Chanderigam, but the policemen on duty retaliated causing the militants to flee, sources said in Srinagar.

There was no report of loss of life on either side.
