Naxals blast railway station in AP
March 30, 2003 13:30 IST
Continuing their attacks on government property, Naxalites belonging to the outlawed People's War group blasted a railway station and a revenue divisional office in Andhra Pradesh since Sunday night.
Six Naxalites planted claymore mines at Gomanda railway station in Vizianagram district on Sunday night, police said. After asking the staff to leave, they set off the explosion.
Before leaving, the ultras handed over a chit to the station master which said the action was taken to protest the arrest of PW activists in the district, police said.
In another incident, two Naxalites entered the revenue divisional office at Kamareddy, some 65 km from here, in the wee hours on Monday and blew it up, Superintendent of Police Shanka Braha Bagchi said.
