Italian Prime Minister Silvio Berlusconi has cancelled his India visit due to gastrointestinal problems.

Berlusconi was scheduled to arrive in New Delhi Thursday along with Italian Minister of Foreign Affairs Margherita Boniver and a high-level business and media delegation.

In his three-day state visit, he was to attend the two-day India-European Union Summit in Delhi beginning Friday. A bilateral meeting with Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee was also planned.

The official, however, said the India-EU Summit will continue according to the schedule.
